Cap badge
« on: Friday 11 January 13 19:54 GMT (UK) »
Best close up of a cap badge that I can make. It is the badge on the cap of a friends father who was in the Commandos.  She is not sure if the Royal Marine Commandos or the Army?  At first glance I thought it was an engineers badge but the Royal Marine badge from a distance is similar.

Would the Royal Marines wear a cap such as this during WW2 or is he engineers before volunteering for the army commandos?  In the original photo which I have a poor copy of, he is with two other men who are wearing side hats but you can't really see their badges or other insignia.

Thanks Alan

Looks like the Bays or the early RAC badge
One more charge and then be dumb,

May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.
