Marriage look up please

Hi,

I have found a marriage in Arlingham on 25th September 1775 between Mary Vimpany and John Wilks.  May I request a look up to see if it shows John’s occupation and where he came from.

In 1800, Mary is mentioned in her father’s will as “my daughter Mary wife of John Wilkes of Ashton in said county”.  If John came from Ashton originally, where is/was it because I am having trouble finding any children for this couple.

I reckon there are 2 possibilities for Ashton - at opposite ends of the county!

Ashton-under-hill
Near Evesham, and now in Worcestershire

Cold Ashton
Near Bristol - records at Bristol Records Office


But a note of caution!
The parish quoted on a marriage entry or certificate is simply where that person was residing for the qualifying period (when the banns were read) of 3 weeks!
And not necessarily where they were born?!

Thank you for your reply - I have looked at both those possibilities but cannot find any likely
Wilk(e)s children in either.  Since there is 25 years between the two dates, I also wondered if they may have lived somewhere else directly after their marriage.

Source: Glos Archives (GA) PFC 18 IN 1/9 1, St Mary, Arlingham, Marriages:-
27th September 1775, John WILKS married Mary VIMPANY.
That is all the information recorded.
John's residence and occupation are not recorded which is quite usual in 1775.

Hi Sue,
I was in Glos Archives (GA) this morning and decided to double-check the date of marriage for John WILKS & Mary VIMPANY.
I can absolutely confirm that the marriage date was 27th. Also, John was a Bachelor of the parish of Fretherne (Glos) and Mary a Spinster of this parish.
