Hi Steve,

You've probably already read the marriage transcript on hertsdirect.org but just in case ..

Isaac Phillips of Stroud Kt. ?? (sic) married Fanny Ives at Barkway 25 Aug 1827

Sorry - that's all I've found so far

Hello Di.

No, I hadn't seen it, the bit I found was on Familysearch.

I've just tried to order the marriage document from Herts, but for some reason my payment is not accepted by my credit card provider, after 3 times of trying.  Sods law.

Interestingly, there is an Isaac Phillips in 1841. St Paul, Covent Graden, Middx. aged 50, male labourer. n.b.i.c.   Alone of course. ::) ;D

This marriage does seem a bit out of the way, from Great Missenden, but stranger things have happened.

Thanks for the help.

Steve. :)

Hi Steve

I don't think that marriage in Barkway is your Fanny Ives. Looks like the Isaac Phillips & wife Fanny are in Southwalk on the 1871 RG10/625/93/2. He is a Mariner born Strood Kent which matches with the marriage that Lady Di found & she is born Buntingford Herts about 5 mile from Barkway.

Are you sure that Fanny & her sister married. :-\

I can't find a burial or marriage in Buckinghamshire, only the baptisms. ???

There are 3 other sisters who are proving troublesome, at least I've found one...Ann Ives(very common christian name).

I thought with 1 less common christian names, it might make it easier to trace them.....but no. ::) ;D

Aren't they just so annoying.... :)

Just checked my Herts burials up to 1851, nothing there either.

BTW I also have Warrell's from Bucks. Can't see a connection to Hannah just now but I wouldn't be surprised. :)

The witnesses to the Phillips/Ives marriage are Jane Mary Ives and William Davy/Carney (not sure)
