Hi Bob

One last thing (off topic) - I notice your interests, and here is the website and book I find very useful for Sussex/Brighton - very early moving pictures - 1896:

Lots of info
https://www.photohistory-sussex.co.uk/index.htm

https://www.brightonfilm.com/

Info-rich, compendium book by David Fisher
https://www.brightonfilm.com/cinema-by-sea/index.htm

(Esme Collings filmed the world's first blue movie in Hove.)

Brilliant 30 minute 1960 TV programme.

Hi,
8 Market Hill Maldon is now a very old fashioned cobblers, just big enough for 1 person to enter, the house looks quite large, front door in the middle windows either side, the cobblers is attached to the right of the property, I could just see it as a photographers.
It's called Frostick TJ & is on Google if you want to have a look.

I visited this shop on Saturday, the current owner said after the Photographers it was a gun shop for a while, & now a cobblers. Lovely shop to go in proper old fashioned with lots of memorabilia. On the wall he had a letter from Hazeltine Frost dated July 1908 about his handing over the business to John Rayne Photographer who in a previous employ had been photographer to the King.
I hope I have attached correctly.

Hello,

I am trying to locate a photograph or photographs taken by Walter W. Gladwin of the balloon that Joseph Simmons and Sir Claude de Crespigny crossed the English Channel in on 30 July 1883.  According to the newspaper advert he sold these at his studio in Maldon.

Thanks in advance.
