In Goole - there is a marriage on freebmd between Richard Marshall and Kate E Cowling but your Stanley was only b 1897

There are only 5 Marshall/Cowling births in Goole

5 births, that would make Stanley only 16 yrs at the time of the first birth when was the age reduced to 16 yrs for someone to marry without parental consent

I wonder if Stanley served in WW1, there is sufficient gaps in the first 3 births that could
suggest this, albeit any miscarriages/stillbirths.
I have had a look for WW1 Service Records but cannot find his.

And that other marriage for a Stanley Marshall to Jessie Abson Sep 1941 Goole could well be him. I cannot find any births to this marriage either.

I think the 1941 marriage could be Stanley Marshall b 1922 mentioned in the earlier reply.

I was discounting this marriage in view of Stanley's age at that time, but mentioning it was the only Marshall/Cowling marriage in Goole which would account for the births. 

I suspect that if the 1941 marriage cert was available for Stanley - it would show his father as Richard

He could have married anywhere and then just settled in Goole at a later date

I am sure he had a daughter called Margaret she used to come and visit my auntie in the 70s 8os

There is only one Margaret Marshall b in Goole mmn Sugden which does not link to a marriage to Stanley Marshall

Perhaps a copy of his death cert may throw up a clue re: address or possibly reported by one of his children

It could well be the son.
Abson is also a name in Goole too, although not many.

Very possible he could have married anywhere and children also born anywhere.

Fingers crossed the fische's go into the early to mid 1900's and I can glean some info, hopefully some baptism records would be nice too and a MI, will look for that first.

Hi Bendy Wendy Thanks for the reply and also Carol W who I did not get back to, computers are still new to me. I have some new information that was sent to me might confuse you more.
Stanley married a lady call Cowling had son John F 1918 Stanley 1922 Richard 1936 I think there were a few  Stanley Marshall in the area at the time.

The parents for the 3 children were Richard and Kate Elizabeth Marshall.

Thanks for that info, narrows down the list somewhat (unless Stanley became Richard, something to bear in mind when I am searching the marriage fische's tomorrow)

and a much later one for Richard 1936 which I cannot think will be a sibling.

Looking on Freebmd there is a Richard Marshall born 1911 which says see Dec 1936. I think this Richard may be Richard and Kate's son.
