I would like to point out 2 small icons on the "inbox" which you may not have noticed.
One is a "speech bubble with lines in"  immediately before the email, meaning an item has been read. There is also another " speech bubble with lines in, with a green arrow pointing left" means has been read and has been replied to. Clicking on the message with this icon, opens up to a page which gives received message and sent message on same page, whis is what you wanted.

If I could see both of those icons, and if they did as you say, they would indeed do what I want.

I can see against each post in the inbox the "speech bubble with lines in" but not the "speech bubble with lines in, with a green arrow pointing left". I have set my preferences to 'conversations' but it doesn't actually do it.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

A screenshot of my messages - a PM from Brevitas, including my reply.

Would have been here quicker, but discretion was necessary !  ;D ;D

To my shame I didn't see Tom's reply - serves me right for not RTBT.

If this is a speech bubble, then it was what Tom said :

Time to buy some specs - I can't see what it is !  ::) ::)   ;D

I'm afraid I can't see the speech bubble with the green arrow either. And I'm sorry to be slower than the rest of you but I don't understand Pels' reply....., I've fiddled about with that symbol Pels mentioned ('change view') and a number of other things but it still doesn't seem to combine my messages and my replies. (I'm not really bothered about it but like to know how things work  ;D)

I definitely have a long way to go........  ::)

If you look in the PM-menu "Preferences", you can click on "Settings" and choose whether you want to see messages as "conversations"

Change between "drop-down" and "side bar" menus with the change view button
(or set it in your profile >> Look and layout >>  Use sidebar menus instead of dropdown menus when possible.

Thanks, Bob. I've done that, and it makes no difference. No idea why. It's doing my poor ageing head in  :(

Hi, I have been following this thread as it was a bit of a pain for me also that messages were segregated,  :( However I have just followed Bobs advise on reply number 14 and it works a treat  ;D .

I'm sorry but mine is definitely set to 'conversation' and it still seems one-sided, I expect it's me doing something wrong  :-[ But my page doesn't look exactly like Bob's either...

Edit - yes it does, it looks like the lower half! Sorry :-[

Hi People,

Glad to see we are getting near to a solution. I think once you have changed the settings you would have to reply to a message then you would see the little green arrow attached to the speech bubble. I will send those involved a test message that you can reply to.

Tom

PS Sorry for late reply, been out for dinner with wife, sister in law and husband, in Glasgow, superb meal.
