Broadstone Dorset
« on: Saturday 19 January 13 20:54 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Can anyone please tell me what the batch number is for baptisms in Broadstone, Dorset?

I have tried Hugh Wallis and Archer but neither has a mention of Broadstone.

I have found a baptism of Evelyn Gladys Maud Fall on 23 August 1894 on Family Search but I would like to find baptisms for any siblings.
Thank you

Hi

Have had a look on An****ry, but can only find the one baptism you have, although another child Walter A was born around 1897 Cheshunt.

Their fathers baptism is on there

Alick James Fall 30 Oct. 1870 Canford Magna. Parents: James and Ellen, fathers occ. labourer.

Hi,

The church of St John the Baptist in Broadstone was not dedicated until 1888 so I guess the church at Canford Magna would be the one used.
One of my son's married at St John's and my daughter was baptised at Canford Magna.  :)

Thank you, Claire T, it was kind of you to look for me.

I have now found the 1911 census for the family. On it it says that there were three children of the marriage. The second, Walter Alick was born in Waltham Cross, which I understand is/was in Cheshunt Parish. The third was Edmund who was born in 1911 in Hanley Castle, when his mother was 43.
The father was a gamekeeper who, it seems, moved around with his job.
So, I guess, Gladys was the only one baptised in Broadstone.

It is still curious that there appears to be no batch number for Broadstone.

Thank you for the information, Nanny Jan.

As you can see from my previous reply, I have found three children of the marriage. The second, Walter Alick was born in Waltham Cross. The third was Edmund who was born in 1911 in Hanley Castle, when his mother was 43.
The father was a gamekeeper who, it seems, moved around with his job.
So, I guess, Gladys was the only one baptised in Broadstone.

Further, as the father was baptised in Canford Magna, I looked and found the marriage of the parents James Fall and Ellen Jane Hoare in Canford Magna in 1870.

As Claire t says, James's baptism is recorded in Canford Magna, but not Ellen Jane's.

Thank you for your help
