1 Bartonholm Road, Irvine in 1937 **COMPLETE**
« on: Tuesday 22 January 13 21:41 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have any information, regarding the building, on 1 Bartonholm Road, Irvine in 1937.
Could it possibly have been a hospital or old persons` home? My great grandfather died there in 1937.

Hi pwl1951

Why do you think the address would be a hospital/old persons`home rather than an individual private address?

Hi

I think it was the address for the poorhouse but I'm not certain.  If he was ill - he would have been nursed in their infirmary

Hi Monica

That is a really useful link so I have bookmarked it.  Don't know how I have missed that as it is part of the same site

Maybe it is new? I too hadn't seen it before until it came up on the search.

Such a brilliant dynamic site  :)

Thanks to you both, Monica and Carole, for the information and extremely useful links.
I thought it was a hospital, Monica, as he had lived most of his life in Kilmarnock.
