Dagenham records
« on: Saturday 26 January 13 15:25 GMT (UK) »
This is a long shot as I have very little information to begin with but here goes anyway. I am trying to find information on my Great uncle William Glover. He was born in Tralee, Kerry, Ireland on 13 July 1890. He joined the Royal Engineers in 1913 and served in WW1. As far as I know he did not return to Ireland after the war but I think he settled in Dagenham. I don't know if he married or had a family. He may have worked for Ford in Dagenham. Anyone got any ideas where I might start looking. Are there any marriage or death records for the area online ?
Thanks in advance

Hi, the National Archives has soldiers' discharge papers which might give some information, although only 40% of the records have survived.  They also have service records (WO363) and others.

There  is a page "looking for records of a British Army soldier after 1913" here:

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/britisharmysoldierafter1913.htm

I suggest that you look for him by name in their catalogue in class WO and take it from there:

Hope this helps,

Paul
