William and Beatrice TOON - came to Australia in 1923?????
« on: Sunday 27 January 13 07:55 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me find Willam and Beatrice TOON's shipping records? When they emigrated they had 2 children John William Henry aged 2 and Pearl Beatrice aged 1.

A family member has told me that Beatrice didn't come out and that she died in England. They lived in Hermitage Rd, Coalville, Leicestershire before they came out. But I have also been told she died in 1937.

I know the child John William Henry came out to Australia because I met him when I was really little. We called him Billy TOON.

Can someone help me solve this mystery please.

Cheers, Ted

When I met the son Billy TOON he was living in Berwick Victoria. I think his father William TOON is buried in Rosebud, Victoria.

So I'm guessing they came to Victoria.

Thanks for your help. Cheers, Ted

I haven't found Beatrice or Pearl Beatrice on any electrol roles.

Thanks for the link to shipping records. I've looked at these. I think they were 10pound poms like my family and the Assisted Passengers does not cover 1923

Hi

A quick look at passenger lists suggests that William came out on the Largs Bay leaving London 17th Oct 1922, Beatrice and the children followed leaving London 13th March 1923 on the Hobsons Bay

Mrs Toon and 2 children arrived back in London on the Moreton Bay 14th April 1923. This would suggest that they turned around before arriving in Australia. William arrived back in London on the 21st July 1923 onboard the Esperance Bay.

William and the children then returned to Australia on the Balranald leaving London on the 4th October 1923

Andy
