A quick google throws up a lot of Ten Eycks/Teneycks - looks like it has German origins.

Very helpful, but i would like to come forward to see if i could find living relatives to see if they would like to have the bible. I've contacted some Yearsleys on FaceBook, but no replies. Seems like most of the younger generation doesn't really care where they came from they just want to know where their going. Thanks for the info

Its against forum rules to post information on living people but if anyone does have something on a living person they can send you a private message with the information.

Also by us posting info on the family on the forum someone might just come across it and they might just be the living relative you are after  ;D

This looks to be the same William Yearsley I have found on a couple of census, but they give him a middle initial of F not TE. Father is George and mother is Elizabeth on the 1850 census. There are no other likely William Yearsleys born around the right time. Mysterious.

I wonder if an obituary will name other family members, so we may be able to trace the family to the present day?  :-\

And this from 'FInd A Grave':
Birth:  1844
Death:  1917
New York, USA

William was a Civil War veteran.

Burial:
Albany Rural Cemetery
Menands
Albany County
New York, USA
Plot: lot 127, sect 104

I've posted on the Yearsley thread on the beginners board to see if there's any connection with the American Yearsleys.

Best wishes

And some family history:

Jonas Yearsley and George Yearsley settled in the old town
of Watervliet in the seventeenth century. Jonas built the first
hotel at what is known at this date as Latham's Corners in 1845,
Died in 1860.

George J. Yearsley (son of George). To West Troy in 1830.
Served an apprenticeship with William Tucker in 1832. Estab-
lished the business later, continuing same until his death in 1902.

William T. E. Yearsley (son), born and educated in the village,
continuing the same line of business (harness), identifying him-
self with the commercial interests of his birthplace, sacrificing per-
sonal interests and home associations in support of the country's
honor, and as a veteran, his services (like many others) are appre-
ciated by all loyal citizens, and his membership in General John
E. Wool Post, G. A. R., is the memorial tablet whereon is in-
scribed the deeds of valor credited to its members.
