Hello All,

Looks like the Jane Mcdonald, who married George Hood, was the daughter of Claude McDonald, and Margaret Peat, married 20/June/1851. Barony, Lanark.

Jane Hood birth is 22/Nov/1851. Lanark. so about 5 months after marriage.

Claude McDonald, and Margaret Peat, had four or five kids that i can see, there is however one who is very significant, Claude Knox McDonald, born 10/Feb/1858. Govan, Glasgow.

In 1881 census, Claude McDonald, his wife and three daughters are living 85 Pollock Street, Govan, Lanark, there is a 5 year old grandson named Claude McDonald, living with them as there is no sign of a Claude Hood, of the approx, birth age born 1875. in Scotland, its a possibility that the young Claude McDonald, age 5years name has mistakenly been transcribed.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hello all,

On the 1911. census for Govan, Glasgow City, Claude Hood, age 36 years is living with his parents George Hood, age 62 years, his mother Jane, is 59 Years. this is only by using free search on Scotlandspeople.

Jane McDonald Hood, his mother looks to have died 1915. age 64.years Govan, Glasgow.
George Hood, his father looks to have died 1917. age 68 years Govan, Glasgow.

This leads me to think this is the couple on the 1881. census living at 9 Paisley Road, Govan, not far from Jane Mcdonald's, parents.

George Hood, Head, Engineer M. age 33 years M. born Shotts, Lanark,
Jane Hood, Wife, M. age 29 years, F. born Wishaw, Lanark,
Margaret Hood, Daur, age 2 years, F. born  Limehouse, England,
Jemima Hood, Daur, age 5 Months, F. born Kinningpark, Renfrew,

The young daughter, Margaret Peat McDonald, born 1874. died the same year 1874.

Its also most likely why young Claude, age five was living with Grandparents in 1881. nearbye, when you look at the circumstances of the child Margaret's death 1874, the couple moving to England, sometime after 1875 Claude's birth, having another Margaret, then back to Scotland, then having young Jemima age 5 months, a traumatic time for the family.

The ages of the parents 1881, and 1911. are almost bang on.

Regards,
Jonn.
