Pretoria is a city in South Africa (the former capital). 
Another forum member made mention of the rootsweb ZA-IB mailing list ... you might want to try to see if any list members would do the lookup for you.  Alternatively  you could ask for a list of researchers in the Pretoria or Gauteng area who you could contract in order to do the lookup for you.

I live here in England but grew up in SA and I am trying to trace my grandfather's roots who died in SA.

However,  you may be aware that in the City of Johannesburg there has and up until I left a great preservation of the mines and miner's history.  The only help I may be able to give you is of course the origin name in those days and it seemed De Beer's was a big mining name i.e. De Beer's Mines.  And I think the museums were named after this family as well.

You may find your grandfather's name listed in these museums.  It is a long shot,  but maybe worth a try.
