Is this James' baptism  :-\

St Peter, Bradford - 7 August 1828 - James Crampton Ackroyd, son of Edward and Mary.  Edward is a Butcher living in Bradford.

And then there is this marriage, which is a little late BUT  :-\:

Christ Church, Bradford - 10 December 1841 by Licence
Edward Ackroyd, 50, widower, Butcher of Bradford.  Father, John Ackroyd, Milner
Mary Crampton, 40, widow, of Bradford.  Father, John Smith, Farmer.
Edward signed, Mary made her mark.  Witnesses:  Wm and ? Scott

I can't readily see an earlier marriage for Edward.  But there is a possibility for Mary -
St Peter, Leeds - 23 January 1815 by Banns
John Crampton, Bricklayer and Mary Smith.  John signed, Mary made her mark.

In theory that would mean that Mary married at the age of 15, however the 1841 census shows actual ages of 56 for Edward and 47 for Mary, which, if true, would mean that Mary might have been 21 :-\  In the 1841 census it was quite usual for adult ages to be rounded down to the nearest 5.

I'd really like to find a Leeming connection somewhere  ;)

Thank you so very much AMBLY and BumblB for all of your research and fabulous information that you are providing to me. AMBLY, I think you are on to something. The 1861 census that shows James Ackroyd married to Margaret. My mother always told me that my great grandfather James and grandfather Harry dealt in horses in the UK and that my grandfather Harry came over here to the US tto deliver a load of horses and he stayed. That 1861 census you sent to me shows James as a dealer in horses and Harry as 2 months old, which would all fit nicely as I thought Harry was born in 1861. I think, then, that this James is my actual great grandfather James, who was married to Margaret. I previously thought my great grandfather James was married to Hannah Wells, but this 1861 census fits much better according to what little info I got from my dear mom. Thanks again for all of your hard work in helping me track down my family "back home" in the UK.

Glad to have been able to help.

Are these James' half-siblings?

St Peter, Bradford:
28 February 1812 - John, son of Edward Ackroyd of Bradford, Butcher
18 July 1813 - Hannah, daughter of Edward and Betty Ackroyd, of Bradford, Butcher
9 November 1814 - Thomas Fenton, son of Edward and Betty Ackroyd of Bradford, Butcher

Is this Edward's baptism?  :-\  Assuming, of course, that the 1841 marriage is the correct one

St Peter, Bradford - 11 February 1787
Edward, son of John Akeroyd of Great Horton, Miller

and, a possible baptism for John:

St Peter, Bradford - 23 November 1766
John, son of James Ackroyd of Bolling
