What wonderful photos. That lady in the first coloured photo looks so familiar. I may be wrong but at the first stall on Moores Street...Henry St side a younger version of that face sold me fruit every other day from 1969 then into the 90's and noughties her daughters ..who also had the same striking looks and wonderful charm served me. Could be the same family.

I am also struck by the classy shoes in both other photos. My mother worked in Arnotts 1931 to 1948 and said the most discerning customers were the street traders.

Have you been in touch with the local paper, after all these photos are local history, they might print them in there paper, I live in Lancashire and our local paper often has all photos asking people for information.  I would think a lot of people who like to see these great photos.

Hiya

My granny and great granny worked in Moore Street, but a long time ago.

My granny's name was Diney Mulready and was in the book too !!

Grizzly - Am I right in saying that it says here that you have 'contacts' there....HA that makes you sound like the Mafiosa..............

Anyway, one of my Granny's great pals there was Annie Mooney, and a family member has recently said that they were related but I can't figure out how !

Just if you are talking to anyone in the area can you ask them if this is true...........

Thanks a mill

Tara

Hiya, my Granny Diney died in the 1980's but worked the stall up 'til then.

She was at Trader John's next to the Featherstone's..................she was well known ....................HA trust me.............just say the surname Mulready

Annie Mooney was up at the corner of the laneway.................sorry I'm not sure when she passed away.

Thanks

Tara
