what I do know:

not related to the John Bates and Isabella (confirmed by relatives)
could be a re-marriage, a late one or none !
I have the info on Sarah Williams

would like to get details for birt.cert. on all but Adam & Sarah ((mother)already have it)

This could be John Bates:

And on the 1871 census I think this may be him?

I guess that you are both right on the button for Sarah !

I have a question for you, since I'm not from the UK
maybe you can tell me if :

can I order a birth. cert. of my Gmother with only the info
on my father's B.C. ?..would they know where to look with that ??

as for John you came up with another one, I'll check him out but I know
that the one with father "William" is not the one (it's the "John and Isabella")

I think Sarah Williams and John Bates are the two most commun name
I had to look for in my entire life !

I would really like to know of some relative in STS cause
they could be the only relatives left for me!..(not that I'm that old)

..but would be nice to know where I come from !!!

P/S it seem like the only way I can get an idea of how my father got to leave England, abt 1912, is to travel to Walsall and check with the local reference institutions !?!!
