Hi there, I am looking for Turner rellies too. My father & brother Rex & Geoff Turner, their parents Myrtle Whitley & Ray Turner. I'd like to know their connection to the Nile district near Evandale, Tasmania. Regards D. Reynolds

Hi. I can not find any connection to Rex & Geoff Turner to the Nile or Myrtle Whitley in the history I
have of the Turner's who were at the Nile.
     Kind regards
     Ken Turner.

Hi didielicious,

I can see Raymond Henry TURNER and Myrtle Annie on electoral rolls at Evandale.  Raymond died in 1963 aged 65 and is buried at Carr Villa.

This is probably his birth:

Raymond Henry TURNER
Born: 29 Dec 1897
Father:    Henry TURNER
Mother:    Ellen SHACKCLOTH
Registered at Evandale, Tasmania
Registration Number:    559

Henry and Ellen's marriage notice from 1892:

TURNER—SHACKCLOTH— On 12th October, at the residence of the bride's parents, by the Rev. J. Polkinghorne, Henry, third surviving son of T. Turner, Camperdown, Lymington, to Ellen (Nellie), second daughter of J. Shackcloth, Brickendon, Longford.

Hi Debra.
It is very confusing the Turners of the Nile.
I know of and have the family history of two Turner's who lived on the Nile, one on my father's side and one on my mother's side, took me some time to work it out.
None of the Turner's I have marred a Shackcloth ( I may be wrong) but can't find it. Nor can I find a Henry married at that time. There is a Ellen Rose (NELL) who married a Fitzgearld killed 1st world war.
I am sure there is a connection there but I don't have it sorry.
Ken

Thank you! Yes I think it sounds like Raymond. I spelt his wife's maiden name wrong, it was Myrtle wheatley. But other than the BDM's and all how do I find out more about the family? Were Ray's parents well do do?
Regards
D. Reynolds

Hi angel7025,
The Challis family linked to the Turner family at Nile are all descended from English born families .
