Its looking like he was maybe born out of wedlock, Susan ann watson had a daughter by her first marriage - Elizabeth  S Thurling b1874  who married 1912 (abt 38 )
but as suggested by Muss there is a John H Thurling b1895 no father , mother Elizabeth?

I looked at Robert J (1922) & Sarah A Watson (1919) obits in SMH there was no mention of RJ Watson.

Elizabeth Sarah Curphey (nee Watson) did not marry until 1912 (abt 38 yrs). She has a 1952  probate at the state records which i had in my hands & ran out of time to look at it , she did have a least 4 known children 1912-1918.
Would she mention RJ Watson in her death/probate?

Getting the birth certificate of JH Thurling?

also RJ Watson's 1 marriage lists his witness as William C Waller ( Blanche
Watson husband)

Children of 1st marriage : THURLING -Elizabeth S 48, John H 46, William C 42, living. 1 female dec.
Children of 2nd marriage :WATSON- Richard GS 37, Blanche E 33, Nelllie25, living. 1 male dec.

There is a connection! somewhere!!!!

RJ Watson was living at the same address as Elizabeth S Curphey in 1943 Culcairn.
Black street was also Susanne Watson's adress on her death certificate.

Thanks to Muss for that hint - was he Elizabeth's son b1895 or were they brother & sister ???

i now have John H Thurling birth certificate,  b 1895 Jindera. (Illegitimate)
Mother was Elizabeth Sarah Thurling age 20, b Albury NSW.
I can not find any info (electoral/marriage/death ) for JH Thurling?

It would be a guess JH Thurling & RJ Watson were the same person!!!!

Hi

I believe the missing son may be found born in Benalla, Victoria.
I refer you to the web-site Trove and the newspaper The North Eastern Ensign (Benalla) dated Friday 25/08/1893 P3 - and a court case entitled T . Kane Vs Bessie Thurling (illegitimate child) from the article i worked out a child was born approx 17th June 1893. This could be your missing link.
For the record i am descended from John Thurling and Sussanah Sawyer through the second child John Henry Thurling b.1876. Sussanah did marry twice and died in Culcairn. I can help you with Thrling and Sawyer lines and straightened out some of the family links you are trying to connect with.

Welcome to Rootschat, Sandbunny.

You will need to make 2 more posts before you can access the PM function of R'chat.  They can just be short.  :)

Link to TROVE article which certainly explains the name confusions, and the link to Jerilderie.

Could this be the spurious registration?

George Murray Watson was living in Lockhart 1930 he also married Mary Ann Graham 1917 Albury.
Then they moved to Victoria.
George died 20/1/1952 & is buried in Springvale Cemetery.
