Parish of Drummond
« on: Sunday 17 February 13 14:04 GMT (UK) »
On a ScotlandsPeople certificate there is a reference to a birth having occurred in the "Parish of Drummond, County Armagh".  Can anyone identify this parish or are we looking at a 'typo'/misinterpretation?

Hi,
I am not aware of a Parish called Drummond (or anything similar) in the County of Armagh. However there are two townlands called Drummond in Co. Armagh. A townland is a small administrative area. One is in the parish of Tynan near Armagh and the other is in the Parish of Loughgilly near Newry

Very many thanks for this prompt response and helpful information, kingskerswell, and for the description of a 'townland'.  It gives me a bit more to go on. Great stuff and thanks again.
