Burial -Charles Handley
« on: Friday 22 February 13 12:25 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone who could look and see if there is a burial for Charles Handley between October 1801 and 1837. Probably in Yorkshire, but also possibly in Derbyshire. Must have been at least 30 at time of death. A 'not listed' answer would also be appreciated. At least I would know.

It might help if we knew where Charles was living at the time.  Some PR's have been transcribed and are on CD

Hi Carol. Many thanks for the suggestion. Charles was a native of Leeds. Around about 1800 he was the master of the workhouse in Knottingley. In October 1801 he was sentenced at Rotherham to serve six months in Wakefield jail for theft. After that I have no idea. Possibles are Sheffield, or maybe Dronfield in Derbyshire, or maybe he went back to Leeds. I hope this may be of some help.

There is a Charles Handley who was buried on the 9th November 1839 at St Mary Magdalene, Whiston, West Riding, Yorkshire. He was aged 34. That is the only one I can see. None in Derbyshire.

Many thanks 'groom'. I am afraid that one is already known to me. He was the son of William Handley and Edith Darwent of Ulley and was baptized at Aston near Rotherham in 1806. He's definitely not my man, but thanks for the effort.
