Canada, James Cooper
« on: Saturday 23 February 13 08:35 GMT (UK) »
My great uncle, James Cooper, born 22/09/1871 in Waterloo, Liverpool, emigrated to Canada aboard the Aurania which left Liverpool on 06/03/1926. With him was his wife, Agnes, and 11 year old child, Jean. I think the ship was bound for Halifax.
Could somebody please give me a few guidelines how to find what happened to the family after they arrived? (I have not done any research in Canada before.)
Many thanks, Matahui.

If that immigration date for James was 1904 then he was a boarder  with the Salmer family in 1911 - 442 Baunatyne Winnipeg City. Manitoba. Occupation:- Plummer. Immigrated 1904 - Birth a year out - Septe 1870.

Think James used to enter Canada via the USA. Certainly found the family crossing the border that way in 1926.
New York Passenger List - James Cooper - born about 1871 and aged 33 years - single - occupation:- Plummer.  Travelling Liverpool to New York on the Campania 19th March 1904. In transit to Winnipeg.

On the border crossing 20 Jan 1926 - Agnes says she was born in Bolton and arrived in Montreal on the Tunisian in June 1912.
There was an Agnes Cooper on the Tunisian, June 1912 but her age is recorded as 22 years. Going to husband in Winnipeg Manitoba - plummer.
That seems to fit with a marriage for an Agnes J Dodd to a James Cooper - West Derby  8b 559 - Q1 March 1912.
