Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

FreeBMD shows Emily's death:
December qtr 1936
Bristol district    vol 6a, page 86
Winter, Emily     age 46 (so born about 1890?)

Was Doris aged about 19 when married?
There are 2 potential births:

December qtr 1920
Bristol district    vol 6a, page 19
Winter, Doris E     Mother's maiden name Roberts

and

March qtr 1915
Bristol district    vol 6a, page 208
Winter, Doris E A     Mother's maiden name Holbrook
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thankyou KGarrad for your quick reply. Snuffled out most of that info last night, and upon talking with my friend we/I think that Emily ROBERTS may be the correct one. With her permission I'll send away for marriage cert of Ernest and Doris to check, and yes, it seems that Doris did marry young('ish) as her Dad remarried 'on the rebound' in 1937/38 with the new stepmother not being that much older than Doris!!  Dad's name may be Walter rather than Frederick, too, as Doris had  brothers of those names and there may have been confusion on my friends part. Amazing what a phone call can do to suss out new info.
Questions: How do I get more info about who is interred in the WINTER Family Grave at Greenbank?
Are there any Bristol newspapers (archives) available on the Web?

OK! FreeBMD shows a potential marriage:

March qtr 1913
Bristol district    vol 6a, page 240

Winter, Walter
Roberts, Emily

So the 1920 birth is looking good!

As for Greenbank Cemetery, an email to Bristol City Council might prove fruitful?

We can't divulge details from the 1911 census, due to copyright issues, but the family can be found at the same address!

Once again, thanks. I reckon this is the right family now, but will send away for marriage certs(Ernest-Doris and later Walter-Emily) to be sure. Apparently Walter worked on the wharves - was he doing this in 1911?

Oops! Sorry!  :P Will have to find  someone here who has access to the 1911 census and get info from them. Dates/names etc seem to point to the 1901 family being the correct one but will wait for marriage certs. Have received a reply back from the Bristol cemetery people (YAY!) who gave me info on the family grave. It contains Mary Jane ROBERTS aged 51 d. 24 June 1900 (possibly Emily WINTERs mother??),Grace Caroline HANKS aged 39 d. 14 April 1922, Alfred George KINGSTON aged 54 d. 21 April 1928 and Emily. It was purchased by Henry James HANKS in August 1900. Can you find any of these people (tho' obviously not Mary Jane) in the 1901 census?? Do you have access to 1891? I will check out Free BMD. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
