Here's a start - all have parents John and Mary
From SFHG members only database, if you have Sussex connections it's well worth the small yearly subscription  :D

Hi there,

Did find a marriage for a Thomas Dodding to Mary Tickner on the 3rd May 1744 at Ford.
Maybe they called him John Thomas which is a popular name?

I also looked at the IGI for Littlehampton, and there is a Mary Ticknar
Mary Ticknar chris 17th March 1722 parents William and Elizabeth.
She would be 22 when she got married.

You mention they had 9 children have you the names of the children
Have you got a William and Elizabeth amongst them as they normally
put the parents names in the Grandchildren?

Hi and Thank you both  for the replies...the kids names I found were...Elizabeth, Phinis, Mary, Susan, John, William, Ann, Sarah and Frances.
I did find a birth here a few minutes ago for Mary Ticknar born in 1722 in Littlehampton, but subsequent searches for that last name turned up nothing in regards to others born to a William and Elizabeth

Sandymc where did you find that marriage  :-\

SMI clearly has at Ford - 3rd May 1744

John Dudding - Littlehampton and Mary Tickner of the same parish

Here's an interesting one -
at Ferring (which is just along the coast, 4 or so miles
a Phineas Duden and Katherine Stocker married 4th October 1655

The Phineas marriage is interesting considering they had a son named Phinis or Phineas I am presuming, suppose I should be looking at the Tickner name spelled 4 different ways also

Hi again,

In answer to where I got Tho. Dunning to Mary Tickner 4th May 1744 at Ford.
Its Batch number M070512 on the IGI Sussex

I wonder if it should have been Jno. and its been miscribed.  Looked at it with
different glasses on and I just presumed that Tho. was short for Thomas not John

Thats the most likely answer,  I'd trust SFHG transcriptions over the IGI any day  :)
