1832 cholera outbreak in Tipton.
« on: Saturday 02 March 13 18:16 GMT (UK) »
:) Hi, does anyone know if there is a list of the 400 plus people who died in the 1832 cholera outbreak in Tipton?

My 5x Great Grandmother died at the beginning of August 1832, aged 52, not long after the outbreak.
I would like to know if this may have been the cause of her death.

Many thanks,
bagpuss  :)

What cause of death is given on her death certificate?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

 :) Hi there,

I haven't got one as it was 1832, there is no mention of it on the burial entry either, I have looked at a similar document on the Wolverhampton history site, and I was just curious as to whether there was one for the Tipton victims...  :)

Hi Bagpuss, you could look for a newspaper report of the outbreak or obituary on the findmaypast newspaper index:

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/newspapers

Lots of articles mentioning the outbreak including some of the names.

Regards,

Paul
