I think this Family Search entry looks promising: Name   Richard Wilson Steele

Christening Place (Original)   Leake, York, England
Father's Name   Richard Wilson Steele
Mother's Name   Mary
It looks as if Richard Steele and Elizabeth Wilson had a son called Richard Wilson Steele in 1803 and he in turn married Mary and they had a son in 1838 and also called their son Richard Wilson Steele. The grandson seems to have ended up in America. Hope this might lead to something useful for you.  Best wishes  Vonding
