Girvan Newspaper Look-up 1933
« on: Sunday 03 March 13 23:22 GMT (UK) »
My Great Grandfather, Hugh Waugh, went missing on January 2, 1933.  An article in The Scotsman on 11 January 1933 reported the story.  It was six months before Hugh was found 100 yards north of the north pier Girvan, drowned in the sea.  A follow up article in The Scotsman hasn't been found.  I'm thinking that maybe there is one in the local Girvan newspaper as Hugh and his family lived there in the Ailsa Buildings at the time.  His body was found 22 July 1933.  Should anyone be visiting the Girvan library, pretty please, will you look for me?  Thanks!

Mary Jean   :)

PS:  I'm named after Hugh's daughter, Mary, my Grandma.  My mother Jean, was named for Hugh's wife, Jeanie.  I carry both of those names.  Mary Jean. :)

Hi MaryJean,
I live in Ayrshire but unfortunately miles away from Girvan or I'd oblige.
But I thought I'd let you know that there is a website www.givan-online.net.
It looks a fairly new website and it has a genealogy board. Might be worth posting your request there too.
Good luck with your research.
Linda
