Smith/Campin/Camping Southminster 19thC
« on: Monday 04 March 13 22:03 GMT (UK) »
My wife is looking for further information on these families who were resident in Southminster working as Harness Makers(Smith),Farming(Campin/Camping)
The Trade directories for Southminster have proved useful but we have drawn a blank prior to these on both these families
The direct family eventually ended up in Sydenham.
Regards

John Smith b1756 m Eleanor Cotgrove in 1781
son
John Smith b 1782 m Mary Upson Stillman b1794 m-n/k
son
John Smith b 1825 d 1870 m Elizabeth Camping b1819 d1885 date of marriage not known.
All John Smiths born in Southminster.
This is the direct line.
Have detailed info on family born to John Smith of 1825 but struggling on the others apart from their wives names.
The wives families difficult to locate particularly as the Camping's use Campin and Camping as a surname.
Thank you for your interest.

The marriage of the younger John (to Elizabeth) must have taken place between 1851 and 1861?

Southminster, Essex

Smith, John  Head  M  66  Harness Maker  b Southminster
Smith, Mary  Wife  F  56  b Burnham, Essex
Smith, John  Son  M  24  Harness Maker  b Southminster
Smith, Mary  Daughter  F  18  b Southminster
Smith, Rosetta  Daughter  F  14  b Southminster

1861 census: Reference RG09, 1087, 120, 15
High Street, Southminster

Smith, John  Head  M  35  Harness Maker  b Southminster
Smith, Elizabeth  Wife  F  41  b Southminster
Smith, George  Son  M  12 months  b Southminster
