There is also a Thomas KNAPP born 1895 Western Australia with parents Thomas and Mary.

The 1903 electoral roll shows a Thomas KNAPP in Edenhope Victoria with occupation painter.  The 1930 and 1933 has a Thomas KNAPP living at Macquarie Street House, Parramatta with occupation painter.

I cannot see a listing for an Edwin Thomas KNAPP in the early electoral rolls in NSW or SA...from my resources not online.

Thanks Dee and Cando,
I was just going through the electoral roll and found the same thing!
I was hoping to get a bit more, such as family, but it looks as if there weren't any and as I don't know what sort of work Edwin did, it isn't much help.  I know his father was a blacksmith.
Kind regards
Bev

Hi to all who have helped me with this!
I couldn't resist it and have sent for a copy of Ruth's second marriage.
The part that annoys me most is that there is no census for either of them and if he died in NSW and she married in NSW, even though she came back to Adelaide, there should be some sort of record of them.
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Bev,

Let us know if you find anything interesting.   ;)

Unfortunately, the earliest Electoral Roll online that most of us have access to is 1930, and Ruth and her second hubbie could have been back in South Australia by then.   :-\

Do you mean electoral roll listings?

SA electoral rolls are not online.   Edwin Thomas KNAPP may not have died in NSW.  I think you need to wait for the marriage certificate to see Ruth's marital state.

The Thomas KNAPP in Edenhope is not your man.  He was born in Melbourne and  married in 1869 to an Elizabeth HANKI/ENSON and they lived at Edenhope.  Nine children including a Thomas.

Not everyone enrolled to vote.

I have the 1913 NSW electoral roll and 1939 and 1943 SA rolls but don't have the time today to search them. The 1939 and 1943 SA rolls are not complete.

No John FEARN or Ruth FEARN on the 1903 NSW rolls.

Have you searched the NSW Sands Directories?

Thomas KNAPP was interred in the Rookwood Anglican cemetery on 5 Apr 1935.  Area AN, Section 14, Row and plot not available and Number 0001563.  Perhaps a pauper burial in common ground.
http://www.rookwoodcemetery.com.au/

Unfortunately his age is not recorded on the burial record.  There is no headstone.

Perhaps a block transcription from his death certificate would help.  Cheaper than purchasing a full transcript.

I have found some more about Edwin Thomas KNAPP in the SA Police Gazettes.
He went missing on the 8th August 1889. Suicide was feared.   :o

I'll PM the snippet to you, Bev.    :)

Hi Dee,
Thank you very much for the information about Edwin.   I looked it up and his mother was still living when he went missing - it must have been heartbreaking for her and for his wife as well.
Did they ever find him as there doesn't appear to be a burial for him in South Australia does there?
Now I have a death certificate coming which I think will definitely put Ruth as a widow for her marriage to John Fearn.
Kind regards
Bev
