David Jenkins
« on: Sunday 10 March 13 14:37 GMT (UK) »
The story began on the Wales section of Rootschat forum. If someone is clever enough to attach the link I would be grateful (done) .  The subject was David Jenkins 1871

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,621733.0.html

My Great Uncle, David Jenkins, born April 1871, Rhydcymerau, Llandeilofawr, Carmarthenshire.  Son of John and Eleanor Jenkins, Cart & Horses.

With help from forum members we have traced David and his wife to Ealing running a grocery business in 1911.

His wife Helen Ellis died in 1954 in Bristol but we are unable to trace David after 1911. There is a family suggestion that he went to Canada or America .  I would be most grateful if a forum member can help my family find out what happened to  David.

I have recently been contacted by a descendant of Helen Ellis ‘ family who confirm Helen’s details.
She was born in Lambeth in 1873.

There seem to have been no children.
Thanks in anticipation
Sandra

Could this request be moved to Canada section.

I am hoping someone could trace david Jenkins travel  Canada and what he got into there.

It seems probable that his wife Helen remained in UK.

A cousin has recently died. Amongst her possessions was a letter in  poor welsh language. From David in Toronto, dated 1938. He was poorly and in hospital.

He did go to Canada then. No further information as to what he was doing there or when he travelled.

Not sure the David Jenkins listed on the passenger list is yours  :'(
The other info on Social Security Application and Claims Index appertains to the USA and not to Toronto Canada  ???
David Jenkins was quite a common name -

The David Jenkins quoted above on a UK Outward passenger list Liverpool to Montreal on the Montclare - departure date 7 th August 1936 was travelling with a wife Margaret Jenkins aged 65 years. Last UK address was 61 Heald Street, Rusholm, Manchester. David was a manager. Country of last permanent residence was "foreign country" and Country of future permanent residence was USA - all the passenger were "ditto" from the top of the page.

The same couple - On the UK Incoming Passenger List for 27 June 1936 - Montreal to Liverpool on the Duchess of Bedford - David H Jenkins born 1871 and aged 65 years was travelling with Lucy C Jenkins aged 65 years. Going to 61 Heald Street Manchester. David was a publisher and Lucy a housewife. They were both US Citizens.

Did your David have a middle name ?
