Can someone with access to VIC BDM please look up the following?

Edward Patrick Davis married Emma May Manning in 1897 (I don't know the registration #)

I'm interested in their children and also Edward's death, which was between 1914 and 1938 (when Emma died - listed as a widow in her probate notice).

I know of three children, all of whom died tragically young,
Edward b. c1900 died in a riding accident (jockey) in August 1914,
Marian b. 1903 died at 5 weeks of age, 29 Jun 1903
Kathleen, according to newspaper reports, was their youngest child and died either late June or early July 1914.

Were there any more children?

Hi Alison,

Firstly the registration number for the Davis/Manning marriage was #166.
Emma gave her birth place as Melton, and Edward his birthplace as Wagga.

Even poor Mary Elizabeth died at a rather young age…..

Thanks Dee, for all your information.  I had meant to put in Edward snr's parents, but forgot; sorry    They were John Davis and Catherine, nee Norton. That death certainly does look like Edward snr.

They certainly were a tragic family.  Edward Manning Davis' horse fell and the following horse landed on him (Bendigo races).  He was only 14!

According to his death notice in the Argus on 31 Dec 1923, Edward was the loving father of Willie (see below), Gwennie and Mollie.  I'm guessing Mary Elizabeth would be Mollie, so perhaps there are other children who lived until a little older than most of their siblings.

According to the Examiner (Launceston) on 1 Jan 1924 (an account of Edward snr's death), he was the father of a W. Davis a light-weight jockey
