Grace Spencer Swallow
« on: Friday 15 March 13 10:04 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me. I am looking for any information on Grace Spencer Swallow. I have no date of birth or death. She married Thomas Parkinson on the 27th Sept 1784 at Wakefield  All Saints Yorkshire and I believe they lived there all their lives.Thomas was born 1763 and married twice. Grace was his first wife. They had atleast 4 children. Any help would be most appreciated. Kerszk

FamilySearch has a baptism 21 January 1764 at West Gate Presbyterian, Wakefield, father Joshua (mother's name not listed), as well as the marriage you have from 1784. They also have a baptism & burial for Grace Spencer Swallow Parkinson in 1813 & 1815 respectively in Wakefield - in both father is Thomas; the baptism has mother as Mary, so probably a connection.

They have four baptisms at Wakefield where the parents are Thomas & Grace 1785-1791. If you know the date of the second marriage it would narrow down the period of search for Grace's death from the last birth (allowing for these being dates of baptism not birth) to that date.

Thank you very much for your help.
I don't have a marriage for Thomas and his second wife Mary Lunn but the first child born was Maria Lunn parkinson born 7 Nov 1801 in Wakefield.   Grace Spencer Swallow Parkinson is a daughter of Thomas and Mary born in 1813. Looks like she died in infancy. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know and thanks again for your help. Kerszk

Sadly it appears that the burial registers for Wakefield parish church in the late 1700s aren't on FamilySearch amd I can't find them on any of the other free to access sites. The archives at Wakefield hold the registers if you're able to visit - your profile doesn't give your whereabouts or they may be on one of the subscription sites or you could order the film(s) at a local LDS Family History Centre.

There is a local FHS which has published & sells transcriptions on many registers & MIs from the area:

Thank you both very much.
I feel I have a little more to go on with.

Will look into the Spencer / Swallow marriage. This could be the beginning of the line. Kerszk

Hello Sharon

I have taken a look at the marriage Joshua Swallow and Elizabeth Spencer. I think there may be a connection but I came up with a different date.  2 Oct 1746  not 1764 .  Kerszk

Sorry that was a typo mistake, the correct date is 1746.

Hi
I found another child Hannah Swallow bapt 1766 in the same church. I am thinking she is a sibling to Grace Spencer Swallow. Haven't  found the mother yet or a marriage for the father Joshua. Will keep searching. Thanks again. Kerszk
