What does  "N.I." on head of a gravestone mean please?

Is this on all gravestones or just a particular one in a particular county?  Don't recall ever seeing NI on my families stones

Could it mean Not Interred - meaning there is no body below (perhaps just ashes) or it may be a memorial only stone

If nothing else, the rest of the inscription would help, please, and if it's not clear from that, some idea of the date. I see you have interests in Wales, so I'm just wondering if it might be something in Welsh. Alternatively, I'm wondering if it could be "HI" and an abbreviation for the Latin "Hic iacet" ("Here lies") - though admittedly I don't think I've ever come across this.
