Looking for my aunt - Marjorie BROOKS
« on: Tuesday 19 March 13 07:40 GMT (UK) »
Family stories say that Marjorie TAYLOR, born about 1908 in Western Australia, went to South Africa after the death of her mother in 1954. She was last heard of in Brisbane in July 1959.

I've since discovered that she married Alastair Frederick Gerald BROOKS (aka Gordon Alan FOSTER) in Perth WA in 1959. Not much is known about him -  born about 1906, according to several newspaper reports.

Is there a website I can search for their deaths?

It would appear that they may have lived in Australia after their marriage as no record can be found on National Archives of South Africa (NASA) except the one I sent you as a PM. The link for NASA is http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300dl click on RSA tab, when it opens type the names in the spaces provided.

Many thanks, Derek, for the info and website - great to confirm that there is a link to SA (even if it predates my aunt's marriage) and also to know that neither of them died in SA.

I also found an Arthur Frederick Gerald Brooks (probably him) involved in a criminal case in 1943 on the NASA site - is it possible to get a copy of the item?

I found the death for Yvonne Raven Brooks in 1967 in Malvern Vic so at least she came back to Australia.

Regards Jan
