Mary Murphy, Airdrie to Queensland
« on: Tuesday 19 March 13 11:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks new here on this particular board.  Here's my query I have my ggrandfathers older sister Mary she was born in Airdrie 1872, married James Allison 1895 in Scotland, had a daughter Sarah born abt 1897.  James died 1906, Mary re-married Patrick Murphy 1908.  Here's my question Mary died 1928 Ipswich, Queensland.  Have tried all the sites for passengers haven't found her.  I want to know when she left the U.K., must be some time after 1908 also did she travel alone as I've got a date for daughter Sarah Allison death abt 1999 in Queensland, don't know her married name if she got married that would be helpful too.

Thanks.

Hi,

Are Mary and Patrick Murphy listed on the 1911 Scottish Census?
If not, that narrows your search to a span of 1908 till 1911 leaving Scotland. And if they are you know you're looking pre- 1911.

What age is Patrick Murphy when they marry please?

Regards, Looby

Sorry made a mistake in that post :)

If Mary and Patrick are on 1911 census you are obviously looking post1911 as your date of departure.

Got it right this time! :D

Im concerned you may have the wrong death for daughter Sarah. If born abt 1897 and died 1999 she would have been 100 to 102 years old when she died. Possible but i would advise checking it out.

Hi there,

Do you have the Qld cert to confirm your Mary Murphy, wife/widow of Patrick and earlier widow of James Allison, and mother of Sarah Allison died in 1928 in Ipswich Qld?  (They are quite expensive, but that depth of info ought to be on the Qld dc…, sometimes even back in the 1920s )

Hi, thanks for your replies.  I haven't checked the 1911 census yet so that one's up in the air just now.  As for Sarah, I've always wondered about that.  As for Mary's death it's the one with parents Neil Toye and Mary Crossan as they're my gggrandparents.

I have not confirmed any of the below so i dont know yet how accurate it is.

I found a tree on the Mundia site

Sarah Allison
1897- 1991
Born: New Monkland, Lanarkshire
Died: Ipswich, Queensland, Australia

And apparently married
Andrew Breslin
1890-
Born: Harthill, Lanarkshire, Scotland

I found a death for Andrew
1962/C3713   Andrew   Breslin   Andrew   Mary Jane Dawson
