Mary Ann Ebbethite/Ebbithite

I am trying to trace the parents of my 2xGGrandmother
Her name was Mary Ann Ebbethite she was born in 1826 in Flamstead Hertfordshire,her occupation was a straw plaiter,she married Thomas Lovett in 1846 in Hemel Hempstead, they then moved to Colne lancashire
I have been trying for many years without success to find her parents,maybe someone will read this and be able to help.

Have you got a copy of her marriage cert?
If not, that would be one step you could take, as will hopefully give er fathers name and occupation

Census ref HO107/441 / 7/8 / 10

Their is a Mary Rowland b c 1826 with a Smith household on HO107/441/ 2/4/ 3 Hemel Hempstead

Hi again not certain of course of Rowland family, but how many Dinah/ Williams are there in Herts?!

Emmanuel Smith aged 9 with Eliza aged 4 parents William and Sarah at Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead another to throw in the mix! Census ref for 1841 HO107/441/ 7/58 / 19

Welcome to Rootschat & I do feel so sorry for you with a name like that in your ancestry only because I have almost the same.

My Grt Grt Grandmother was Eliza Eppthite born 1812 in Rickmansworth, spelling also found as Eppathite, Hippathite, Hibbathite, Ebelthite, that's apart from the ones on the link posted by KGarrad. I have even seen a reference to it having been Evilthrift at one time.

I did send for Eliza's marriage cert in the hope that it would give me a clue as to her father but guess what, no father mentioned on the cert, so I am none the wiser.

Unfortunately I don't know if our ancestors are connected but there is a chance so I shall follow this thread with interest & if I can offer any help I certainly will.
