Henry CARBIS of Penzance
« on: Sunday 24 March 13 15:26 GMT (UK) »
I would be very grateful for any help in finding the marriage, birth or anything else about the above, Henry Carbis.
All I know of him is that he had a son, Thomas Carbis, christened at Madron 12/08/1810, from whom I am descended. This was gleaned from the on-line Madron parish registers, but no mother's name was given. It was fortunate that Thomas, who had a large family with his first wife Elizabeth Maslin, married a second time after the introduction of civil registration and gave, on his marriage certificate, the name and occupation of his father: Henry Carbis, butcher.
The on-line Madron marriage register doesn't seem to cover the period when I would have expected Henry to get married, so I am stumped.

baptism for a possible sister gives mother as Ann

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/more-info/?t=baptisms&id=2961814

Henry & Elizabeth Hicks had children baptised in Sancreed, Gwennap & possibly Madron, but he wasn't a butcher

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/more-info/?t=baptisms&id=1207729

There's a later Henry & Elizabeth Carbis couple having children baptised in Madron, and that Henry was a cordwainer.

Thank you all for the helpful information and thanks also for introducing me to the Cornwall OPC site that I wasn't previously aware of.
It looks as if the Henry Carbis and Anne Richards couple may be who I am looking for, with Elizabeth being their daughter. I now need to do more work to confirm it. I have trawled through the Madron on-line parish records and found that there appears to have been several Henry Carbises  producing offspring in this period.

are the names of the witnesses from the marriages of Thomas any help in tracing family?
