PLease help decipher a name and marks of identification
« on: Monday 25 March 13 18:05 GMT (UK) »
I have attached a few lines from an immigration document from April 1907.

The name the brothers are seeing this year looks to me to be Jakimus(?) and one brother, as you read further to the right, has "marks of identification", but I cannot tell what markings he had.  To me, it reads, "gifted with s-----" (word is 6 letters long?)

Thanks for your help!

I think the word may be 'small', perhaps referrring to the short word below.

I tend to agree with "pitted with small pox"

It is a reliable "mark" for identification purposes, so much easier to describe than a tattoo and far more reliable than hair colour and complexion.

Happy hunting
