The familysearch.org records don't always give the demonination
On looking at the family and the UK Census I would suggest the following:
As Charles Shaw is your starting point - look for his marriage cert
He is living with his wife Catherine and two children on the same Road as Andrew, Elizabeth Jane and Mary Anne in 1891 in Menston
This will confirm his father's name and occupation
If this links to Andrew and the close proximity suggest so; then I would look for the birth cert in Co. Down to confirm his parents
This will then allow you to confirm his siblings and their details
The fact that Andrew said he was married 40 years and is out by a 6 is not unusual, you may note that he aged by 13 years between 1901 (62) and 1911 (75)!
The number of children could also be a reflection of a bad memory, children were not mourned and remembered in the same way at that time as now. It looks to me that he had 6 childen at least of whom at least 3 died as young children; this left 3 alive and listed on census returns in 1901.
(I am not convinced that the Margaret will match unless she was a twin to Charles, the births are already all very close in time)
Some suggestions;perhaps
- Andrew incorrectly remembered how many children he had had
- Andrew listed all that lived past a certain age, e.g. 2/toddler
- Andrew did not believe all the children of the marriage to be his
- The details were reversed and should read 3 still living rather than 2
- The number of children alive was correct at 2 and that Mary Anne the only one not listed obviously in 1911 had died between 1901 and 1911; leaving just Charles and Elizabeth Jane
