What was his Offence? *** COMPLETED ***
« on: Wednesday 27 March 13 14:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

I'm stumped with the second Offence, which 'Norman' committed on 28 Dec 1918, as shown on the attached image:

  • When on Active Service absent from ...?... Special Team till 4.30 p.m. 30th ...?...

On the first offence he was given 3 days C.C. (Confined to Camp) but Admonished on the second

Any helpful suggestions welcomed!

Regards

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

I think it is:

"When on Active Service absent from Tatto[o] off Special Leave till..."

Military tattoo is "A signal made, by beat of drum or bugle call, in the evening, for soldiers to repair to their quarters in garrison or tents in camp." (OED)

I think it might be 30th inst - inst meaning current month.

Hi Gadget

I thought that too, initially, but then as the offence was committed on the 28 December 1918 I kind of ruled it out :-\

I suppose it could mean that he 'did a bunk' for two days?  That would read correctly then, as the Admonishment was dated 31 December ::) ... silly ol' me missing that!  If that's the case he was lucky to get away with it!

PS    Thanks for everyone's input!
