Hi, I have just started to do some family history on the Hogg side of my family. My Great Great Grandmother was Marion Hogg, daughter of John and Elizabeth Hogg. Any information is welcome. Thanks, Sarah.

I think this might be the family in question in 1871

Celyn House, Caergwrle, Hope

John Hogg Head 43 Colliery Agent born Scotland
Matilda wife 35 b Tipton Staffordshire (second wife Matilda BROOKES married 1868 Image is on Ancestry he gives his father as George HOGG a carpenter
James Hogg son 15 scholar born Chester, Cheshire
Marianne dau 14
Charles Alfred son 11
Sarah Jane dau 9
Margaret Ellen dau 8
Thomas John son 7
Alice Maud Mary dau 6
Florence Amelia dau 4
John 1  son   b Hope, Flintshire
Jessie Madeleine 2 months b Hope Flintshire

Children I have looked at so far all have mother's maiden name of Brookes or Brooker, so I wonder if Elizabeth was a Brookes too.

Added, I’ve just realised there is a previous page to this thread.  Oops.
So Elizabeth and Matilda were sisters apparently.
