Hi Ken

You can't see an actual copy of the will, but a full set of calendars for probated wills is available at Her Majesty's Courts & Tribunals Service at the Principal Registry at Holborn.

If an entry exists in the calendars you can then apply for a copy which will cost £6

I should be there either next week or the week after so if you would like me to check, please post the full name and date of death. If you have an address that would also be helpful.

Hi
George was in the great war at Mesopotamia after the war he sent rabbit skins to London and he was paid 6d (six old penny) each, he then started the company of G Flower & son (scrap merchant) in Chippenham.  He was a prominent man around the town, he also (I understand) owned a property company with the houses being rented out and he drove a black Rolls Royce.  The will could contain large sums of money!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ken

So are you a relative? When I was in my teens/early 20's in Chippenham there was a "bikers" pub called The Borough Arms (subsequently renamed The Gladstone Arms in a succesful attempt to create a new image for itself) which was flanked by Flower's Yard. The yard covered an emormous area which has been redeveloped into housing.

If you would like any photos of the area as it is now I'd be happy to take them & forward to you.

Best Regards

Hi Vaz
No not a relative but George was best man at my mother in law's wedding in 1939 at Chippenham,  we still visit Chippenham to see other members of our family.
Flower's yard was most of Gladstone Road.

Ken
