Martha Eccleston nee Price Norton Staffs
« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 15:32 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more on my gt gt gt grandmother Martha Eccleston nee Price.  She was born in 1832 in Norton Staffs and died in 1897 in Norton Staffs.

She was married to John Eccleston (I think) who died in 1874 aged 50 (still I think!)

In 1881 she is living as a widder woman in Broomes Building with her son John, daugter Martha and illegitamate grandson Charles (who is my Gt Grandad and the end of my Eccleston search!!).

She had one other daughter my namesake Jane Eccleston working in Birmingham as a servant.

Any information anyone can find will be very much appreciated as she is proving a complex character and a bit of good time girl!!  :D :D

DMP has sent me 1861, 1871 and 1891 census returns for Martha which has shown I was actually wrong with who she was married to, his name was William Eccleston not John and I have also discovered a new son called William who I did'nt know existed.

My Gt Grandfather was illegitamate his name was Charles Henry he called his son John Bartlett Eccleston which gave me a clue that the wayward father was a Bartlett, I found a Henry Bartlett down the road living next door to another family called Eccleston I now know that the head of that family was Charles's mothers oldest brother William so I'm now pretty sure that Mr Henry Bartlett was responsible for my Gt Grandad but obviously there is nothing written down.
