May be the person's shorthand for "Gas stoker" (?)

Or it's something ..RN?

There's another on the same page - a James Ryan.

The Peter Devlin I have been searching was a flax dresser.  He did have a son who was a gas stoker.

Have you picked him up in the 1910 US Federal Census? To see whether he's working in the same trade?

Hi jrchdsimss,

In 1910 he would be about 73 years old.  I think his working days were probably over.  In the 1910 Census he is listed as an in-law living with his son in Philadelphia.  I suspect that he may have originally came over in 1894, returned to Ireland around 1896, and immigrated again in 1898.
