Glasgow street name
« on: Thursday 04 April 13 22:30 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help decipher the name of this street in Glasgow. It's from a birth certificate registered in the Tradeston area of Glasgow. I've tried looking on an old map, but couldn't find anything, but looks like it ends in 'tic' or 'tie'.

Thanks.

Hello,

Was the birth before census data available.

If it was after 1841 a name may be able to be linked to the census'.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I never thought of that, but unfortunately it didn't help. The birth was in 1858, so I checked the 1861 census and it seems they lived in Crown Street.

I take it you've looked at this list? http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/info-streetschanged2.html

FWIW, my guess from that list is Anne Street, with the confusion being caused by a tick checkmark being written over the address once the information is registered. If you look closely, I think you see that the tick is in slightly thicker and darker ink
