« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 23:15 BST (UK) »
Im looking for info on my father John Henry Jones who im told by an older cousin was a pow under the Japanese. All i know is he was born 1926 in Newport Mon area and i have a photo an aunt gave me and on the back is written Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He survived the war but died in 1963 in Newport. Any help please, Phil.

Hi Phil

Try this site
http://www.fepow-community.org.uk/
They may be able to help. There is certainly much info concerning Far East POW's & links to other relevant sites.

Hi Phil,

Have you considered trying to obtain his Army Service Record?

http://www.mod.uk/contacts/army_records.htm

Tells you how.

Thankyou Maddie and Wendi. I think his servis record is the way to go as ive looked around other sites and there seems like a lot of info leading nowhere fast. One thing though, a freind who collects medals saw a photo of my dad today and says the csp badge was Royal Artillery so my aunt must have been wrong about royal Welsh Fusiliers. Thanks again, Phil.
