French (?) handwriting on back of CdV - translation/help please!

This is a bit of a peculiar one.  I bought this photo from ebay, and found this on the back.  It seems that the photo has been stuck to a page of handwriting, and then the surplus page cut off.

Can anyone decipher/translate it?  It looks like French to me, and if so the words at the bottom, which seem to be "que l'autre?" I think mean "the other?"

It's not important, I'm just curious.  Any help gratefully received.

Hibou and chouette both mean 'owl' I believe, and Orang Outang needs no translation.

I suggest pumping these words into Google translate and see what comes out.

Ah, the theme isn't consistent. Croque mitaine is a kind of bogeyman used
to threaten or frighten children with.

Chat-huant is a name for a nocturnal bird resembling an owl, which has a cry like a cat.

I looked up croque and it means undertaker.  The two words together croque mitaine translate as hobgoblin.  I also saw a reference to bogeyman as you say.

Interesting that you read the word chouette - I saw mouette!  Mouette is seagull apparently. 

After you suggested it, I looked up Hibou, and it does mean owl - but I read that word as beginning with a W, so I’m not sure, although Wibou/Wibon doesn’t seem to be a word, so you are probably right.

I didn’t see the word Orang-outang, I can see it now, but I didn’t read the first letter as an O.  But now you’ve pointed it out, what else could it be?!

So then, we have some sort of list of birds/animals.

But why?

I wonder if the man in the photo was a taxidermist

I think 'Hibou' is a fair guess as there are two good examples of h on the line above.
So we have three lines referencing owls or owl-like creatures. Apart from connotations
of wisdom, they are also seen by some as birds of ill-omen, so I'm wondering if the
bogeyman word is maybe a countryman's name for owls also. If that is true, maybe this
is a list of names for owls. Difficult to see where the Orang Outang fits in though, unless
there is a tropical form of owl with long red hair which feeds on bananas.

Half a century since I used any French, but I'm thinking the last line may be 'what else'.

Do you think the words above Hibou are Chat-something?  So, therefore, Cat-something?  Is there an owl with that sort of a name?
