Charles Twigg Yeomans Milward b1883

Hi All

Looking for help please with regards to:

Charles Twigg Yeomans Milward, born c1883 in Middlewich, Cheshire.
Christened 1883 in Nantwich, Cheshire.
Parents names - John & Ann

There seems to be no further records of him after the 1891 census (where his birth date is incorrectly as 1888).
I have 'located' a Charles Twigg Yeomans Milward to the USA where he appears to have married a Rosina A .......?

However, even with 'Charles Twigg Yeomans Milward' being a 'one off name', I have located a USA web site dedicated to the family of a Charles Twigg Yeomans Milward and it states that 'he' was born in Ipswich, England??? ... it also states that his wife, Rosina A was born in Ireland but I've found records that say she was born in Scotland?

Confused? ... yes, me too!

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you in advance.

My advise would be to ignore the online tree, or to contact the owner and ask the source of their info.
If they come up with a genuine birth in Ipswich, only then is it worth taking any notice of.


Perhaps they got Middlewich and Ipswich confused!  Both end in Wich!

The 1891 census says that Charles was 3 years old on the day that the census was taken. He might have been 4 the next day. The census doesn't give a year of birth, its the people, computer programs that transcribe it, that turn it into a birth year so don't worry about that.

There is a US draft registration card dated  3 June 1913 for Charles Yeomans Milward born 28 May 1887 in Middlewich, Cheshire.  The card says that he is married and works as a manager for Remington Typewriters. His address is given as 75 Pleasant? Avenue, Jamestown, NY.

Later, there is a US Naturalization Record dated 26 August 1954 for Charles Yeomans Milward born 28 May 1887.  His address by this time is 9165 Emperor Avenue, San Gabriel, California.

Charles Y Milward, born 28 May 1887, mother's maiden name Twigg, died in California on 14 December 1964 and was buried at Holy Sepulcher, Orange with his wife Rosina A. (1884-1966):

Never ceases to amaze me just how great you folks are on this site.

Huge thanks to you all for every bit of information.

Trish - I had never even considered there was 'two of them', I thought it was an error with the recording of the census records, it all makes sense now. The parents given (upon marriage to Rosina) are correct too, John S was indeed John Samuel Milward ... thank you so much.

avm228 - The records you quote are along the lines of what I found but much more detailed, thank you. These records are what made me question myself over the 'USA faily site' that has CTYMilward down as being born in Ipswich? ... it's a pretty unique name and I'm now happy to ignore the details for CTYMilward on the USA site ... thank you so much too.

Ignoring the family tree you found sounds very wise Unfortunately many people put poorly-researched trees online and others can be tempted to take them at face value, often copying and republishing the errors!

A bit more on Rosina - she also applied (as Rosina Agnes Milward born 29 January 1884) for naturalization in California - record dated 26 Aug 1954, address the same as for Charles, namely 9165 Emperor Ave, San Gabriel, California.
