« on: Wednesday 10 April 13 13:36 BST (UK) »
Could anyone with access to the Aughton parish registers please help with a look up for the following marriage which is showing up on Family Search:

22 Jan 1839 Ambrose Barnett (or Burnett) and Mary Walks.

I'm interested in any additional information given, particularly parents' names.

Thanks,
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

The presence of a fathers name for Mary but the absence of one for Ambrose would suggest no father is shown on the marriage cert

The marriage was 22.1.1839 and is on the Vital Records Index as well as the IGI.  No father is shown for Ambrose

Thanks CaroleW,

I was trying to link the Ambrose of the Aughton marriage to the one baptised in Roos. The fact that no father was mentioned in either record helps me a bit further along!

Thanks again,
Jill

Hi,

Have you seen the 1841 & 1851 census data for possibly your Ambrose & Mary.
1841 living Spaldington, there name transcribed Barnard (if I remember correctly) & then in 1851 living Sculcoates/Anlaby.

On the 1851 census if it's the correct couple Ambrose is born Roos & Mary born Patrington. Their son Robert born Bubwith.

Bubwith/Spaldington & Aughton are all not too far from each other. Familysearch has a baptism for a Robert Hogram (Ogram from later marriage) Barnett on 21/7/1839 at Holme on Spalding Moor (also in the right ballpark), parents Ambrose & Mary.

Familysearch also has a baptism for Mary Walkes on 15/3/1818 at Patrington, parents Thomas & Elizabeth - date ties in with the census ages for Mary. The Roos baptism for Ambrose also ties in with the census data.

1841 census also lists an Ann Barnett (Barnard) age 12 living with Ambrose/Mary & Robert - not sure of her relationship to Ambrose & Mary - a little too old for a daughter, but haven't found anything to tie them in together.

1851 also lists a nephew George Vokes born 1834 at Garton living with Ambrose/Mary & Robert.

Also curious about the Ogram middle name for Robert - could this also help? seems unusual.
