Hi Patricia:

Have you tried contacting the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa? They have researched home children and may have further information that would at least narrow down the year of his return.

There is a typo in your posting - 1866 - should be 1886.

From the shipping record to Canada, it says he was destined for Ontario.
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/001015-100.01-e.php

This may be him in 1891 (it's been indexed as Thos G, but I actually think the G looks more like a C):

Township of Proton, Gray East, Ontario at the farm of  Henry & Ann BIRD, is:
Domestic: Thos G WRIGHT, 16, Farmer, English, English Parents

Do you have his exact dob? (and place)?

Cheers

Hello Patricia

I took another look at the Home Children site and found a Herbert Wright who also came to Canada

on the ship Parisian for the same date. He was 17 years of age. All 190 going to Bernardo home in Toronto.
Do you suppose this could be a brother?

Would you know the name of the parents.Could try tracing the family through census records.

There is a Herbert Wright born Dec( fourth quarter)1869 Islington on Rootsweb FreeBMD.

Have found a passenger record for H Wright on Parisian  for 4 April 1886 all going to Bernardo Home in Toronto.

The more info you can provide the easier it will be to track George.

Will keep searching

hi
he didn't have a brother called Herbert,
he had a brother Daniel but we know all about him.
his dad was Thomas George wright and his mum was mary ann sheen
but his mum died in 1879 and then for awhile they lived with there grandmother,
so I know about him till he was sent to Canada,
he was the only one to go,
thank you for your help
patricia.

Hi Patricia:

On page 54 of this 1895 'Ups and Downs' newsletter there is a short write-up on Thomas G. Wright and his 9 years service with Mr. Bird of Dundalk. (Unfortunately the picture is of someone else).

This is from the same website posted by Ambly. Wondered if you had seen it.
