Help Decipher Occupation 1925 NY Census
« on: Saturday 13 April 13 17:21 BST (UK) »
Please help me decipher the occupation my great uncle is working at in the 1925 Census for New York.  I think it says, "San Dept. NYC",as in Sanitation, but the S is not made like all the other S's on the form (such as 'School.').  Could this be a D?  Or maybe a P?  I've attached the "School" as well, so you can see how the letters differ.

Thank you,

-Robin

Could be... the longer I stare I think it says Dock Dept NYC.  Is this the first name of the New York Port Authority?

It does look like a D.  There does appear to be a Docks Depart.

Hi:

It looks like a P or a D. I lean towards a P since there are definite differences from the D in Dept and there is a tail that goes below the line.

Pa... - Park Dept makes sense to me.

Not an S.

All that I can offer is that the two samples are clearly not in the same handwriting.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
